Busy Bees was founded in 1983 by three families unable to find the quality of childcare they wanted for their own children. Since then, it has grown to become the UK’s largest childcare nursery provider, with 237 nurseries across the country, caring for around 30,000 children. Busy Bees retains its founders’ child-centred approach, ensuring that the individual interests, safety, and happiness of every child remain central to the care they receive.

Results

Busy Bees experienced significant improvements in operational efficiency and staff productivity. The new Citrix platform provided seamless and secure access to central systems. The enhanced system has allowed Busy Bees to support its rapid growth and maintain high standards of childcare.

Services Delivered

The boxxe Group provided Busy Bees with new hardware and 24/7 ongoing support, so that they could continue to run as normal.

Industry Sector

Busy Bees was founded in 1983 by three families unable to find the quality of childcare they wanted for their own children.

Business Driver

Busy Bees needed to provide staff with simple and secure access to central systems, regardless of location.

Challenge

Busy Bees was growing rapidly and lacked the internal IT solutions to support their expansion. Initially managing IT from back offices, the increasing number of nurseries required a robust system to connect all locations to the servers at the head office.

Plan

The boxxe Group proposed implementing the latest version of Citrix, redesigning the system from scratch. New hardware was installed in the offices, providing an improved version of Citrix for users to access necessary systems efficiently. The plan aimed to ensure easy and quick access to data, allowing work to continue seamlessly.

Approach

Our team deployed a remote desktop solution for Busy Bees’ staff across the UK using Citrix XenApp. This solution provided a familiar Windows desktop experience for nursery staff and a fully virtualised desktop for around 300 staff at Busy Bees’ two main offices. Ongoing support and new hardware ensured the systems remained reliable and efficient.

Outcome

The implementation of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop significantly improved Busy Bees' IT systems. Staff could get more done in less time and access data from anywhere in the world. The system was designed according to Busy Bees' business requirements, resulting in higher productivity and satisfaction among the team.

If we do have any issues, the boxxe Group team get on board, get logged on, and get it sorted for us, which is brilliant.

The future of IT across the business is massive. More and more staff will be having tablets and smartphones, and they need to be able to access their data from those tablets and smartphones when they need to. Again, with Citrix and boxxe, we are going to be able to offer them that.

Overall, Busy Bees have grown since onboarding a new IT system and support. The boxxe Group is helping to put together a facility where we will have two data centres where boxxe will look after all the servers which causes less headache for me.

The service we have had from the boxxe Group over the years has been phenomenal. They have given us guidance and advice on what systems and processes are best and how they can help us improve our business. They have just always been there for us.
