boxxe Community

Our mission is to make life better with tech and to enrich communities across the UK. We created boxxe community to be a force for good to drive a positive impact for our people, our communities, and our planet.

All boxxers can utilise 11.5 community days each year to support charity or pro bono work. These community days are an opportunity to step away from our desks, spend time with colleagues, and make a real difference! In 2023, our people contributed over 2,800 hours to support charities and community interest organisations across the UK.

Our people and their diverse range of skills are our biggest asset. Our team is passionate about making the world a better place. Working with various charity partners, we have conducted a wide range of activities including but not limited to, litter picks, beach cleans and assisting local community groups with tasks to maintain and restore river and wetland areas, and local parks.

We’re proud to support charities and community interest organisations through pro bono work. In our work with charities, we take a needs-based approach, asking charities not just what volunteering opportunities are available for our people, but what their needs are.

Our charity partners

To maximise our impact, we have built charitable partnerships where our people’s skills can be used to benefit our communities including befriending, mentorship, careers insights and advice, employability skills and CV writing, consultancy, and technical support.

York Cares is a partnership of York’s leading employers committed to making the city a better place through employee volunteering.  The charity matches the skills and expertise of employers and their employees to community projects where they can have most impact.  Their programmes deliver tangible benefits for local people as well as workforce development opportunities for employers.

In 2023, our people supported York Cares through 722 hours of volunteering. boxxe supports York Cares’ skills sharing programmes, career aspirations programmes and social connections schemes that work to break down barriers to inclusion. We have developed, and delivered programmes in line with community need, offering specialist skilled support to social mobility cold spots and digital poverty initiatives.

Volunteering

Volunteers are vital in fighting hunger in our local communities. With 1 in 5 of the UK population living below the poverty line and with the current cost-of-living crisis, we recognise that it is more important than ever to lend a hand.

We have a strong track record supporting foodbanks. Since 2022, our people have delivered 307 hours to support foodbanks and food poverty charities across the UK, with 207 of those hours being delivered in 2023.

Throughout 2023, support was delivered to Trussell Trust’s network of foodbanks including Bradford Foodbank, Birmingham Central Foodbank, Nuneaton Foodbank, Sheffield Foodbank, Manchester Central Foodbank, York Foodbank, Lewisham Foodbank, as well as other charities supporting those experiencing food poverty such as Rethink Food and SIFA Fireside.

boxxe volunteers have helped sort through donations from the community, unload delivery vans, weigh food items, check stock levels, pack food parcels, hand out food parcels, ensure the quality of the food coming in, cook and serve hot meals to those in need.

Learning and Development

Our approach to Learning and Development is to create a learning culture that supports individual and organisational growth, aligns with our strategic goals, company values and engages our employees in meaningful and personalised learning experiences.
