ECS - Building a More Modern and Secure Infrastructure

Challenge

The challenge was simple: ECS’s infrastructure was outdated and nearing end of life. Their Windows operating systems were close to going out of support, which meant they needed to upgrade, as soon as possible! Their older infrastructure was causing stability issues and lacking resilience, which was costing them time and money in maintenance and recovery.

Plan

We decided a cloud based, fully automated deployment was the best solution to ECS’s problems. To improve their systems' stability, security and efficiency, we would update their platform to the latest version of Windows Server 2019, allowing us to modernise the infrastructure, systems, and software of their main (and restricted) networks. We also decided to upgrade their storage to provide additional resilience and performance.

Approach

We kicked off the cloud based deployment by refreshing and upgrading ECS’s hardware. We then set to work deploying a number of software systems, including; LogicMontior’s secure agentless data collector, Veeam backup server and software and Hyper-V failover clustering. Alongside this we patched servers, switches, storage arrays and firewalls.

Outcome

We focused on delivering a valuable ROI, so ECS can focus on doing their work well. They now have systems with enhanced reliability and availability, thanks to the Hyper-V failover clustering we deployed. And with real-time dashboards and reporting, ECS is able to take quick and decisive technical action, when problems arise. All in all we delivered a scalable, lower cost, highly secure and reliable IT solution to solve ECS’s problem – a job well done.

Darktrace	Darktrace’s Security Platform enhances boxxe’s cybersecurity position by providing endpoint protection, cloud security, and email security. Darktrace uses AI-driven tools to detect and respond to potential threats, such as malware, phishing attacks, and insider threats, by continuously monitoring network traffic, user behaviour, and cloud-based resources. It aims to prevent data breaches and minimize cyber risks by identifying and mitigating security threats in real-time.	Contact data (name, email address, user name), devide identifiers (e.g. IP address) and/or mobile identifiers, location data to nearest city, usage information (including tracking or browsing behavior).
Greenhouse	Greenhouse ATS is a cloud-based software that helps companies manage their recruitment processes. It organizes and tracks job applications, resumes, and candidate information. Greenhouse ATS collects applications and stores data about the applicants, such as which source they came from, which role they applied to and where they are in the application process. Greenhouse ATS features applicant tracking, background screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding. Ireland/EEA/USA	Greenhouse	Data will primarily be stored at rest in Greenhouse’s Silos - EU-Central-1 (Frankfurt) and EU-West-1 (Ireland) for disaster recovery.
