Collaboration tools

We can’t live without them; the key to success in an online workplace lies in the tools you employ across your company. Because keeping your employees organised, connected and on the same page is what really helps your business thrive.

The demand for collaborative software is hitting new heights

With the worldwide collaborative software market expected to reach $15.6 billion by 2025, global data platform Statista1 says the rise in remote working has “led to the need for secure and reliable communication tools that can help teams stay connected and productive”. Tools which can be “accessed from anywhere, anytime.”

On the same note, reader beware; the saying ‘too much of a good thing’ exists for a reason. In 2023 Statista found that 69% of their respondents felt “overwhelmed trying to keep up with the number of collaboration tools used by the company". So it’s only natural then, that as modern workplace specialists, our advice — when it comes to implementing collaborative solutions — is to be selective.

What are the ultimate tools for collaboration?

There’s a number of things to consider when you’re considering the extensive marketplace of collaborative tools. Are you looking for easy-to-use video conferencing capabilities ‘à la’ Microsoft Teams or a way to manage projects and stakeholders dotted around the globe with the likes of Asana?

Are you dealing with highly sensitive data? And if so, are there any regulations and policies you have to follow? Do you need to comply with HIPAA healthcare regulations or GDPR in Europe?

Aside from that, what outcomes are you actually looking for? Do you want to:

  • Improve productivity

  • Stay better connected

  • Streamline workflows

  • Drive innovation

  • Motivate colleagues

  • Boost efficiency

  • Increase accessibility

No matter what you need help with, there’s a tool out there for you — just do your due diligence first. Make sure it fits with your company policies and values, plus any laws and regulations within your industry.

By popular demand; Which tool is most useful?

In a recent poll we found that an impressive 82% of you consider Microsoft teams the most effective communication and collaboration tool. Perhaps what’s more surprising is that only 10% selected Slack and 3% cited Zoom as most effective. It appears that most of you think Team(s) work really does make the dream work!

And with 5% of you also citing tools like Google Meet and Asana as useful, there’s an obvious pattern here; communication is king. So, whether you want to collaborate on a live document, get answers to quick questions via Instant Messaging, work from a range of different devices, or seamlessly deliver team training, solutions which allow you to communicate quickly and easily should be a top priority. Especially when it comes to nurturing an engaged, collaborative, and productive digital workforce.
