With ease, efficiency and security as the Met Office’s top priorities, we successfully implemented a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to securely manage their corporate owned devices, enabling the team to allocate resources more efficiently and giving them the ability to focus on other cost saving initiatives.
What did we do?
Challenge_
With an increased use of unmanaged mobile devices making the handling of public sector information difficult, the Met Office required an MDM solution that would fulfil all of their needs. Together, we decided on three key objectives that were integral to the success of the project: implementation of a technical solution to achieve internal accreditation, an evaluation of the proposed solution through the running of a Proof of Concept and the ability to manage existing managed mobile devices. Challenge accepted.
Plan_
The boxxe Sales & Service Team collaborated to utilise their extensive knowledge of the MDM market and customer environment to create a unique offering for the Met Office. They devised a full VMware Workspace ONE solution, which would include device deployment, implementation of a Mobile Device Management (MDM) Suite, and a support service.
Approach_
We utilised the inbuilt VMware Workspace ONE app to create an initial Proof of Concept on iPads, which featured the provisioning of emails, calendars and contacts. Once the Proof of Concept was agreed, we implemented the Met Office’s new MDM solution.
Outcome_
Our in-house knowledge and expertise allowed us to develop a solution that fully meets the Met Office requirements. The team now benefits from a technical and service-based solution; the VMware Workspace ONE MDM Suite to manage devices, and a boxxe support service to provide remote support and guidance. We also provide the Met Office with detailed enrolment guides, and training for existing first-line helpdesk operators.
With ongoing support to the user enrolment teams, as well as 24-hour major incident management, and full VMware Workspace ONE Health Checks, we continue to support the Met Office and their critical climate-focused activities.
