Windows 10 End of Support
14th October 2025
It's time to upgrade to Windows 11

The road to Windows 11

Everything you need to know about Windows 10 End of Support and the move to Windows 11

Windows 10 End of Support

Windows 10 22H2 is the current and final version of the operating system, which is going end-of-support on 14th October 2025.

What does this mean for you?

Monthly security updates will stop being released, therefore it is imperative that you consider upgrading to the latest operating system, if you haven't already done so.  The latest offering in the world of Windows is Windows 11, which was officially released on 5th October, 2021.

Key questions and considerations

We remember how difficult it was for a lot of people moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and all the older operating systems before that… so we’ve been working in partnership with Microsoft, Camwood and Dell Technologies to make it as easy as possible for everyone who hasn’t yet migrated to the latest OS.  These are some of the key questions and things to focus on whilst the clock is ticking:

  • What issues did you encounter migrating to Windows 10?
  • How are you going to migrate from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
  • Do you fully understand your application estate?
- It’s estimated that 27% of applications running on Windows 10 are not compatible with Windows 11 and require some form of remediation or modernisation.

  • Do you fully understand your device estate?
- It’s estimated that approximately 30% of devices running Windows 10 or older, won’t be compatible to run Windows 11. We’ve featured some of our favourite Windows 11 compatible devices below.

  • Risks and considerations of migrating, or not migrating.
- If you’re still running Windows 10 or an older operating system past October 14th 2025, your devices and business are at risk given Microsoft will stop releasing monthly Security updates which are vital in protecting your organisation from vulnerabilities. If your devices aren’t compatible with Windows 11, you’ll need to think of other options like refreshing your device estate, moving to a virtual desktop solution such as Azure Virtual Desktop or potentially purchasing ESU’s.

- You also need to consider potential supply chain constraints, in 2021 we saw a global supply chain crisis which is still affecting some manufacturers today.

- For Public Sector & Private Sector customers alike, budgets are becoming increasingly tighter as the UK battles a struggling economy and high interest rates. Most businesses will have a limited number of budget cycles between now and October 2025, planning ahead for your budget plans will be key.

An upgrade and an opportunity

Don’t think of Windows 11 as just as a migration, think of it as an upgrade and an opportunity. Windows 11 will bring a heap of upgrades to your users and staff, the recently announced Microsoft Copilots, leveraging generative AI, will only be compatible with Windows 11 & newer OS’s. Windows 11 is also Microsoft’s most secure OS built for hybrid work:

  • 58% drop in security incidents reported by customers who deployed Windows 11*
  • 50% improvement in productivity especially with the AI-powered multitasking and generative functions e.g. Windows Co-pilot *
  • 250% Return on Investment and payback in less than 6 months after deployment.*
* Commissioned study delivered by Forrester Consulting “The Total Economic Impact™ of Windows 11 Pro Devices”, December 2022.  Note: quantified benefits reflect results over three years combined into a single composite organisation that generates $1 billion in annual revenue, has 2,000 employees, refreshes hardware on a four-year cycle, and migrates the entirety of its workforce to Windows 11 devices.

Stay updated and make the transition to Windows 11 today. It's the path to a more secure digital future.

Quote by Andrew Carr, Camwood

"Windows 11 will bring a fully integrated user experience and enhanced security to your environment. However, customers need to consider their device and application readiness and plan and prepare for the modernisation of your end user compute environment. Given 54% of CIOs do not know the number of applications in their estate, you need to assess your device and application compatibility at the very start of your journey, so you are only modernising what you need too. We understand that and can ensure you mitigate the risks and fully understand the opportunity that lies ahead."

Andrew Carr, Managing Director, Camwood

Windows 11 Readiness Service, in partnership with Camwood

Upgrading to Microsoft Windows 11 comes with its challenges, namely around devices and applications simply not being capable of running on this latest version. What this means is that before migration, you need to understand what applications are compatible and will work, which ones you need to modernise, and then how this impacts the end users in terms of deployment.

Our Windows 11 Readiness service takes care of the applications, devices and users and ensures a planned and successful deployment. We do this by combining into one service device readiness and automated application smoke testing, with mapping readiness to user groups, providing you with a single view of remediation activities needed to move ahead.

Our Windows 11 Readiness Audit addresses this and provides detailed insight on user, device and application readiness.

  • hardware requirement checks across the entire physical device estate

  • identify devices to keep, upgrade or refresh

  • captures and ensures business critical applications are not impacted by the adoption of Windows 11

  • identify user, device, departmental and geographical readiness

  • recommend pilot group candidates based on readiness score and application usage

Gain a clear picture of which applications are compatible with Window’s 11 hardware requirements and assess device, user and applications readiness for migration.

Benefits

  • Migration plan built around the needs of your business

  • Expertise help in planning, testing and deployment

  • Customised output clearly showing route to readiness
