The boxxe Community

Whether you are a school, charity or in need of assistance, our community will support yours

What is the boxxe community?

At the heart of who we are is our conviction that we must make life better with tech.  We put people and the environment at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to giving back to the wider community.  That’s why we created boxxe Community – a force for good that will drive a positive impact for our people, our communities, and our planet.

Making the world a better place

As part of our commitment to supporting the community, we encourage our team to use 5% of their annual working hours to charity and pro bono work.  That’s a whopping 11.5 community days, that are used to make a difference across the country.

Our team is passionate about making the world a better place.  From running skills-based workshops for young people, organising beach clean ups, to joining forces with technology partners to support fundraising challenges, we’ve built a workforce of people that champion doing good.

Our charity partners

Our people and their diverse range of skills are our biggest asset.  To maximise our impact, we have built charitable partnerships where these skills can be used to benefit our communities including befriending, mentorship, careers insights and advice, employability skills and CV writing, consultancy, and technical support.

The Charity IT Association (CITA)

CITA Charity IT Association

The Charity IT Association (CITA) was founded to help fill the gap in IT and technology skills and knowledge within the UK charity sector.  Over the last 5 years they have worked with over 800 charities of all sizes, providing them with access to affordable, trustworthy, and independent technology professionals to enable their strategic mission through technology.

York Cares

York Cares

York Cares is a partnership of York’s leading employers committed to making the city a better place through employee volunteering.  The charity matches the skills and expertise of employers and their employees to community projects where they can have most impact.  Their programmes deliver tangible benefits for local people as well as workforce development opportunities for employers.

As a Board Member of York Cares, boxxe supports the local community through skills sharing and career aspirations programmes, social connections schemes and working to break down barriers to inclusion.  We have designed, developed, and delivered programmes in line with community need, offering specialist skilled support to social mobility cold spots, digital poverty initiatives and acting as an employer advisor on co-steering groups.

Our commitment to sustainability

Our aim is to integrate sustainability into everything we do to create a stronger, more successful business, enabling us to give back to the wider community of which we are a part.

We work with our partners, suppliers, and vendors to deliver and support a sustainable supply chain and support our clients by delivering sustainable products and solutions to sort their sustainability journey.

  • We maintain an accredited ISO 14001 Environmental Management system covering the entire scope of our business

  • Our Work from anywhere in the UK policy ensures we reduce the emissions created from commuting/business travel

  • We encourage the use of virtual technology to reduce the use of car/train/plane travel and the emissions they create

  • We use an Environmental Agency registered waste carrier who recycles 95% of waste and the remaining 5% that cannot be recycled is taken to state-of-the-art Energy Recovery treatment facilities where the items are converted into energy to power thousands of households

  • In 2023, 49% of all electricity used by boxxe was procured from renewable sources - a total of 268MWh. Our goal is to continue sourcing all our grid electricity from renewable sources for the energy supplies that boxxe directly controls and encourage our landlords to transition to renewables as part of their contract renewals.

  • We aim to be Net Zero across our entire business by 2050, from supply chain to products.

Here's what our CEO, Phil Doye, has to say

"boxxe is part of a global community of leaders committed to ensuring business is a force for personal, collective and environmental good.  As an organisation, we are defined by making tech human and a core part of our mission is to give back to the wider community of which we are a part.  That’s why we created the boxxe Community, which is committed to leveraging the many resources both within boxxe and across our customers and partners, to support initiatives that utilise technology to make our communities more inclusive and more sustainable."
