Dell Technologies World 2024
We're back from Las Vegas - and we've got plenty to talk about.
The theme of this year’s Dell Technologies World 2024 may have been AI, but people were at the heart of every conversation.
The age of AI
From inspiring keynotes to interactive breakout sessions and plenty of networking, the message was clear: The age of AI will put "more power in the hands of more people" than ever before.
We kicked off our conference with a speech from Dell CEO and Founder Michael Dell on 'Igniting Innovation'. With the help of a few more leading tech voices, Michael laid out his vision for the next generation of AI-driven companies.
5 key takeaways from Dell Technologies World 2024
As always, Dell is clear that its partners will be pivotal in bringing this powerful vision of the future to life for our customers. Throughout the week, there were plenty of announcements highlighting the tools and solutions available to do just that.
Here are our five key takeaways from Dell Technologies World 2024.
PowerStore Prime
After much anticipation, Dell announced an enormous update of its PowerStore solution, promising 66% improved performance, the most flexible QLC array on the market, world-class efficiency and an industry-leading 5:1 data reduction guarantee.
As always, Dell says its data reduction guarantee is completely transparent, with no prior assessment required.
There’s more good news if you’re already a PowerStore customer, too. After a fast and non-disruptive software upgrade, you can access many of PowerStore Prime’s features for free.
PowerScale F910
Dell also used the event to announce its latest purpose-built storage to address the demands of AI innovation.
PowerScale was already cited as the world’s most flexible, efficient and secure scale-out NAS and is packed with AI-optimised features. The latest iteration goes a step further, bringing this advanced tech to your data wherever it is across all stages of the AI pipeline.
Its high-speed data ingestion and 127% improved streaming performance drastically reduce time to AI insights, making innovation much more accessible for many businesses.
Dell PowerEdge XE9680
At the heart of this new dawn of AI innovation is PowerEdge XE9680. Another industry-leading piece of kit, it’s Dell’s first eight-way GPU server.
Once again, the XE9680 has enormous potential to increase accessibility to GenAI technologies, lower TCO, and accelerate innovation. Built to drive the most complex AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and High Performance Computing workloads, it can put power in the hands of businesses that may have previously felt such advanced technologies were out of reach.
AI PCs
Dell’s mission to ‘put more power in the hands of more people’ is perhaps most evident in its latest range of AI-enabled devices.
Dell Technologies World 2024 saw the unveiling of five new PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus with enhanced Copilot+ functionality.
As well as an AI image generator and Auto Super Resolution video editing, AI takes the reins here to securely store all activity between sessions so you can get back to work faster.
Video calling just took another step into the future, too. Live Capture gives users the ability to translate audio into English from 44 languages in real time.
The Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA
Tying the week’s announcements together is the AI Factory with NVIDIA. And, of course, this wouldn’t be Dell Technologies World 2024 without another industry first. The AI Factory is essentially an end-to-end solution integrating the best of Dell’s compute, storage, client device, software, and services capabilities with NVIDIA’s advanced AI infrastructure and enormous software portfolio.
In real terms, this gives you everything you need to scale AI deployments, access AI tools tailored to your business objectives, and quickly and securely launch new use cases.
In Summary
Our CTO, Tim Hall, summarised his week, saying:
What can AI do for you?
AI is nothing new. But the scale and speed of its innovation means many businesses have barely scratched the surface of its potential. And with new tools, deployments and use cases announced seemingly by the day, it’s not always easy to know where to start. As your eyes and ears at Dell Technologies World 2024, we aim to cut through the noise and deliver the key takeaways you need to put the latest tech developments into action.
Let’s work together to determine where you are in your AI transformation – and what we need to do to get you where you want to be.
